Part of being a modern dad is dealing with contradictions of modern values. I've written before about dealing with the color pink, and about realizing I was a hypocrite when I didn't want my girl to play with a barbie, although I thought it was cute when my boy did just that.
And now I see this Battle Tracker toy, and I think my kids will never have a toy like that. Over my dead body will they ever play with guns, or with toys that shoot rockets, or with helicopters that shoot missiles!
And at the same time, I know I would have loved to have something like that as a kid. You control a helicopter, trying to shoot missiles at this missile-defense station on the ground, and that station is controlled by a computer that tracks your helicopter and shoots back. That's insane!
Here's a review from the Dad Bloggers' group member, DadDoes: Review: Air Hogs Battle Tracker, The Bar For R/C Toys Just Smashed Through The Roof. And here's a video review he made:
So maybe one day, when I'm wise enough to come to terms with my hypocrisy, and before my kids are too old, I'll get them a toy like that...
Meanwhile, I've teamed up with a few members of our Dad Bloggers group and with NAPPA, to give away a Battle Tracker, as well as these two very cool books written by the Geek Dad, Ken Denmead. I actually met him last week, and was a little in awe by His Royal Geekness at first, but turns out he's a cool guy. Here's a link to a review of one of Denmead's books, from another group member, Cute Monster: the geek dad book for aspiring mad scientists
Now some words from NAPPA, followed by the Rafflecopter. We will have this giveaway open for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, we can only ship in the US. Good luck!
The National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) is one of the oldest and most respected awards programs in the country.
