I got the opportunity to review a pair of SOL REPUBLIC headphones. Here's a little bit about them first:

Most recently, the company introduced the Tracks HD Anthem, which were inspired by Michael Phelps. He actually wore them throughout the Olympics, and every time we saw Phelps getting mentally ready for a swim, he was there with his Tracks HD Anthem. Proceeds from a purchase of this set also benefit the Michael Phelps Foundation.

I was given the opportunity to review any set of SOL REPUBLIC headphones, and being a big fan of the fellow Baltimorean, I chose the Tracks HD Anthem. The winners of the giveaway will be able to pick any pair they want--any pair, with prices starting at $99.99 and going all the way up to $179.99.

So I got the package, put the headphones together, and tried it out.

Let me just say this: When we become parents, we make sacrifices. For me, one of the hardest ones to make was the loss of loud music. As a former bass player in a band in England, well, as a former rock star in my own mind (well, a former Rock God in my own mind, as long as we're being honest), I used to spend my days surrounded by loud music. If the room wasn't shaking from loud bass, then what was the point, really.

Then I had kids, and music became something I listened to, rather than something I felt. And that was that. Headphones? I was fine. After all, my iPhone came with a pair of white earphones, and what else could anyone need?

So when I tried these headphones, I didn't expect much. I definitely didn't expect it all to come back to me, but it sure did. It was like I haven't heard bass in 5 years. Really, I can't overstate how awesome these things are. From the colors and the design to the sound, and even to the cool carrier bag, this is a perfect item for people who read this review and suddenly remember music is too important to be left for crappy ear plugs.
