Just a quick giveaway for a $50 gift card to Amazon. It can buy you a lot of cool stuff on Amazon. It can buy you a lot of uncool stuff on Amazon, too, but why would you want to do that?
Just an hour ago, I participated in the painful rite of passage known as buying presents for kids' classmates' parties, which was actually much less painful on Amazon than it was in Target earlier today. I ended up escaping Target with nothing but some dog food, because I was almost run over by the Red Shirts' giant carts and blown up by the manager's bubble gum balloon.
Still, you can't beat Target when it comes to getting my personal style:

Hi Oren,
ReplyDeleteSometimes shopping for class birthdays has been a horror, but the more I did it the less difficult it became. We tend to look for a few items that the children will actually use rather than filling the gift bags with the usual trinkets.
That was a nice idea you had - creating the Facebook group. Thanks.
It's hard, because the boys' and girls' divide is insane at that age, but then I ask my boy what his friend wants, and he says she like Barbie Princesses, so I'm not going to get her a Transformer to make a point, you know? But I die inside every time I buy a princess.
DeleteI think going the Amazon route will actually make this bearable. This birthday was my first time buying at Amazon, and the selection is big enough to find cool gender-neutral stuff.
And thanks for joining and for starting a discussion. You have more than 30 comments there. It's going great so far.
