The storm has passed and the power is back on, which means it's time to review the Duracell Powermat 24 Hour Power System. First of all, here's what it looks like.

I know.

The package includes 3 items:

• The powermat, which comes in black or white. You simply lay the backup battery (the box on the left) and/or your iPhone on the powermat, and the mat charges them.
• The Duracell Powermat Portable Backup Battery. You can take the backup battery with you, and use the attached (but hidden) iPhone cable to charge your phone on the go (it provides you with one full charge). It also includes a micro-USB cable, which means other smartphones can be charged as well. It also comes in black or white.
• The iPhone case, which comes in many colors. You can use it as your new iPhone case, because it's protective, slick, and most importantly, once your phone is inside, you can simply lay it on the mat to charge your iPhone.

And although right now you can use the powermat to charge your phone and your backup battery, the plans for the future are for this wireless charger to be a game changer. Already, charging mats are available in a few spots in New York (including malls and clubs), as well as in the 2013 model of the Chevy Volt. In the future, Duracell hopes more and more places will start using this technology to allow people who use the special iPhone case to charge easily wherever they are.

Like I said, it's a beautiful item, which has just made my house a hell of a lot cooler. Right now the package which includes the powermat, the backup battery, and the iPhone case costs $99, and you can find more information on the Duracell Powermat site.
