I didn't make your best bloggers list, but thanks for the opportunity to nominate myself for a runner-up award! Actually, I'm compiling a list of the best parenting sites. You didn't quite make the Top 100 list, but feel free to send your buddies to vote for you (daily) in the prestigious Not Quite Made the Top List category!
And this one is for Klout. For telling me I'm influential about goldfish.
And this one is for--
Silly me... For a second I forgot what this whole thing was about...
There was a list? I didn't make it? Must not have enough Klout... I guess I don't get to run with the in crowd.
ReplyDeleteMe me me!!!!!!! Can those last ones be for me? :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been reading dad blogs for 8 years now, and there is only ONE blog on Babble's list that I read. And I read a lot of dad blogs! Babble went for the snarky dads, not the sincere ones.
ReplyDeleteOut of the 50 blogs, I had not heard of 29 of them. Out of the 21 I have heard of, I have only read four of them. And out of those four I read two of them at least once a month. The other two I have only read a couple times...total.
ReplyDeleteOne day....
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I was a bit put off about it too. Wasn't familiar with several of them.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very quickly done list... I have no doubt that way more thought went into the moms top 50 lists.
ReplyDeleteDaddy's in Charge?, I'm afraid even responding to your comment may cause a reduction in my Klout score, thus diminishing my chances of inclusion in next year's list. I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteJill, I guess you can have that last one. That hat is a thin line between cool and douche.
ReplyDeleteIdaho Dad, I admit I don't know many of the blogs there, and considering the way I actively look for blogs, it's strange. It's like they could only find ten more well-known blogs, and the rest were just filler they found on a deadline. They're trying to make up for that with their new "Vote for me to be included in the B-List" page, but it just makes it more ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the style of the blogs, though. I do read some of the blogs there, snarky and sincere ones, and I do like them. The bottom line, though, is that a list like that is a bragging right but that's all. It didn't give me the urge to go look for these blogs. A guy who was included in the list at the Top 10, told me he got a total of 8 visits from the list...
Kevin, I know what you mean (I wrote about it in the comment above). So what was the point of the list? It's nice that a parenting website admits it ignores fatherhood (apart from letting a few token dads write there now and then), but I'm not sure a list like that makes up for Babble being a motherhood site. I saw on Redbook Magazine, readers get to vote in The Hottest Husband contest. That doesn't make it a men's magazine.
ReplyDeleteJack, I dream a dream...
ReplyDeleteSeattleDad, I want to think that maybe it's a good thing, because it shows they didn't only pick up bloggers active in social media--that they dug deeper and did a thorough research. But actually, this has a feel of a "Come on! We have 20! If we can't come up with 30 more by tomorrow we're fired! Just Google Daddy and Blog and let's finish this thing!"
ReplyDeleteDada rocks, that's also what I think. And I don't know what it achieved. Babble is still ultimately a site for moms. I've been there once, felt like I accidentally entered the high school girls' bathroom, and tip-toed my way out of there. A list of dads isn't going to change that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll make your list, too. Let's see, shall we?
ReplyDeleteYour little one looks exactly just like you! :) So cute! I hope you'll be part of that list next time.
ReplyDeleteThe feeling is just mutual bloggerfather. :) If you didn't make it to their list, they didn't make it on your list either. LOL That site should know who you are! :)
ReplyDeleteMuskrat, you will you will... I intentionally removed the subtitle that included "the best of" from the blog because I didn't want to imply any hierarchy in the order of my reviews or that blogs I missed weren't good enough. But you have been on the sidebar (in the Fathers list) for a long time.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Allentown and Watsontown. I put that whole Babble site on probation.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. You're on my (reading) list! And most of the Babble's list can't say the same...
ReplyDeleteLimrtreekids, thanks! Although I hope you do get to look at the other blogs and find other you like.
ReplyDeleteI believe the admins and most of the users are Babble are female. I guess that's the reason you weren't chosen. :) Don't worry, it means nothing to us, your readers.
ReplyDeleteBeing on the list has garnered me two new readers and a lot more spam. Also, it almost made me feel obligated to put a post up.
ReplyDeleteI know. And even the sites that got in and dismiss it put the widget on their blog. I probably would have done the same, though. You can't have a blog without a bunch of useless widgets, after all.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter looks cute! Babble should recognize you! :)
ReplyDeletegreat!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
